Happy Yadirf. +16 here and clear. The Alaska Range is again visible. They always look so big that it’s hard to believe they’ve been there all summer, because in the summer the damp from the Tanana River valley flats between here and there creates a haze that obscures the mountains most days. Mount Deborah is the highest, I believe in the part of the range southeast of here.

There’s an exciting and extremely well written book about a difficult ascent of Mt. Huntington by David Roberts that describes the successful ascent and then disastrous descent from the mountain. I’m not a mountaineer, but I found the book enthralling and remember it now 30 years later. Anyone who has an adventure buff on their list for the holidays might consider this book. Easy to find online.
