Happy Thurs. Cloudy here with sprinkles and whipped cream clouds. Still some smoke in the air. Ash from the fire south of the Tanana River has settled on otherwise pristine surfaces hereabouts. I set down my (covered) thermal coffee mug for a moment while I started the car, and ash blew out of the vent onto the top, adding minerals to my drink.

Yokelly things are quiet. Nosy snoozes, schnoz tucked neatly under tail tip after a late evening of schmoozing, I pre-zoom. The piano guy is due midmorning to tune it. I note (heh) the passing of the years with these annual appointments. Soon I will be hearing A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, A-sharp, B-B, B,B,B,B,B,B,B,B,B,B,B,B, C, C, C, C, C . . . and so forth, steadily climbing the scale for about forty minutes. By the time he reaches A above high A I am ready to divulge nuclear secrets just to make him stop.

by Chris Freiberg

FAIRBANKS — A Fort Wainwright woman who repeatedly rammed her husband’s SUV after seeing him dance with another woman will spend a month in jail.

“I was drunk and if I really thought about it, I would have gone home, but it was just aggression,” Stewart said at her sentencing hearing Wednesday.

Superior Court Judge Randy Olsen also sentenced Stewart to 17 months of suspended time and two years of probation. …
